Join us for a discussion with Joanne Drummond and JoAnn Fites-Kaufman

The North San Juan Fire Protection District is pleased to offer an opportunity to learn about “Living Within a Historic Wildland Fire Zone” on Saturday, October 28th in North San Juan. Venue and time to be determined.

Two local fire specialists will present information and answer your questions:

Joanne Drummond, Executive Director of the Nevada County Fire Safe Council, will offer insight into “Firewise Communities & Homeowner Insurance in Nevada County”. Joanne will cover the mission of the Fire Safe Council, their programs and services; what Firewise Communities are; and the three levels of homeowner insurance policies in California and what they mean in terms of pricing and availability based on defensible space.

Complimenting this will be pragmatic lessons by Dr. JoAnn Fites-Kaufman, Wildland Fire Scientist, who will cover evacuation and fire access routes; what these routes should look like, and the shared responsibility of citizens to maintain defensible space.

Additionally, several NSJ Fire Board members and – depending on availability – our own NSJ Volunteer Fire Fighters will participate in this educational opportunity.
